  User Testing Examples

Retail UX continually tests a broad range of e-commerce web sites to understand the latest trends in user experience design and strategy. We typically use participants in the Millennial demographic (Gen Y, 18 - 29 years old), because their expectations and shopping challenges represent the near-future market of our retail clients. Below are a few highlight videos from testing sessions, with brief descriptions of the UX issues the participants discovered.

Macys.com

Consumer recognizes need for outfit completion on store websites as is present in store. Macy's lacks a feature that is vital in online retail.

CharlotteRusse.com

Buyer sees a problem with Charlotte Russe's lack of comparison between outfits on the online store. She decides on a recommendation to incorporate such a feature.

Express.com

The online store shows problem in displaying color swatches. Consumer sees colors which are not listed and is confused by store's website.

Forever21.com

BestBuy.com

Online store fails to make the customer comfortable with the purchasing process. Consumer is overwhelmed by amount and variety of products with little to no indication of value in each.

Target.com

Consumer feels products are not accurately depicted on the website. She shows need for proper zoom in features for each product.

Forever21.com

User shows value in displaying full measurement chart on the website. Consumer also points out the benefits of displaying a product in multiple positions to display true representation.
